Mercedes-Benz S-Class wins 2015 AutoGO luxury vehicle..
May 31 2017, Trevor Hofmann

The inaugural edition of the AutoGO Awards celebrates the best cars and trucks for each of the seven different lifestyles established and featured right here on AutoGO.ca, using a judging panel consisting of experienced automotive journalists across Canada.
First and foremost, every vehicle sold on the Canadian market was appointed to at least one of seven lifestyle categories. They had to be sold as 2015 model-year cars and trucks, and had to be available for automotive press test drives by November 26, 2014 – the deadline for our jurors to cast their vote. These vehicles must also be on sale by January 31th, 2015.
The voting panel consisted of journalists and AutoGO.ca contributors Marc Bouchard, Michel Deslauriers, Charles Renny, Charles Jolicoeur and Nauman Farooq. Each juror had to assign 100 points in each lifestyle category. They could not give more than 25 points to a single vehicle, and had to give points to at least 10 vehicles in each category. The scoring was then added up, and winners emerged. Here they are, in no particular order.
2015 AutoGO for Families – Dodge Grand Caravan
Finalists: Nissan Rogue and Mazda CX-5
A vehicle for the family must first be practical and spacious, but safety is also part of the main purchase criteria. Families have specific needs, and everyone with kids knows that an affordable price tag is also important. This year, the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan takes top honours.
2015 AutoGO for Students – Nissan Micra
Finalists: Volkswagen Golf and Honda Civic
In this case, it’s often the budget that dictates our choices. However, that doesn’t mean we must settle for a used vehicle. Students need a car that’s cheap to buy and maintain, but that doesn’t cheapen out on multimedia features. The 2015 Nissan Micra fills the bill, and claims the title this year.
2015 AutoGO Sports Vehicle – Chevrolet Corvette
Finalists: Porsche 911 and Audi R8
When performance and handling are the most important factors when shopping for a new vehicle, a sports car (or truck) is the best way to go. Yet this type of vehicle should also draw attention with a spectacular design. The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette gets the nod this year for its perfect combination of all those attributes.
2015 AutoGO Eco-Friendly Vehicle – BMW i3
Finalists: Tesla Model S and Kia Soul EV
By design, a green vehicle has a lower environmental impact than the average car or truck. It does so using new technologies, electric and alternative powertrains as well as careful use of recyclable or sustainable materials. The electric 2015 BMW i3 is our choice this year for flaunting one’s eco-friendliness in style.
2015 AutoGO Luxury Vehicle – Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Finalists: Infiniti Q50 and Cadillac ATS
A premium-brand vehicle usually offers upscale performance, superior comfort and a sophisticated environment. The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, now offered in coupe and sedan configurations, is our choice this year for its overall mix of luxury, prestige and sportiness.
2015 AutoGO for Couples – Jaguar F-TYPE
Finalists: Ford Mustang and Mazda MX-5
This type of vehicle screams “weekend getaway.” Who cares if there’s no room for the kids; they’re grown up and they moved out, and now it’s time to fire up the passion that a couple might have lost over the years. And the 2015 Jaguar F-TYPE, coupe or roadster, is our firestarter of choice this year.
2015 AutoGO Truck – Ford F-150
Finalists: Ram 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The truck enthusiast loves power and performance, especially when it comes to bragging rights about towing capacity and horsepower. Yet nowadays, a truck is as much a family vehicle as a workhorse, and this is why so many Canadians buy them. For its excellent capabilities, user-friendliness and macho looks, the 2015 Ford F-150 gets our vote this year.
